Local electrician licenses (by city and county)

Indiana has no state electrician license; each city or county decides. We checked the two largest programs: Indianapolis licenses electrical contractors through its Board of Electrical Examiners, and Allen County (Fort Wayne) licenses journeymen, supervisors and contractors.

How often do you renew an Allen County electrical license?

Allen County licenses expire December 31 each year. A journeyman license costs $15 a year.

Do Indiana electricians need CE to renew?

There is no statewide CE rule, because Indiana has no state license. Neither Indianapolis nor Allen County lists CE hours in the documents we read, so ask your local office.
